Hi,

Just taken my ZS 180 to the local MGR specialist (thanks to Chris W for sending me a list!!) after just listening to the engine at idle the mechanic concluded "you need a new manifold". My little knowledge being a dangerous thing(!) I asked him if we couldn't just replace the VIS motors, but he says it's not the motors which have gone it's the linkage system and theres no way of repairing it.

Is this the case?

If so, how difficult is it to fit a new manifold? Do you need any specialiased tools (besides normal sockets, screwdrivers etc!)?

Is there anything else that's worth doing whilst they have the manifold off? (does it free up access to change anything else that's otherwise hard to get to for example)

Can anyone suggest a reasonable fitted-price for a new manifold?

Just a few questions there Please add anything else that springs to mind, I'm all ears.

Just got a call - £750 fitted by my local MGR garage or £235 inc delivery from roverbreakers.com. Can anyone tell me what other parts are needed - any gaskets, seals etc? (there were several included in the price according to the garage!!)

Anyone done it before and know what's involved? I'm not a mechanic, but I'm reasonably mechanically adept and £515 is a big difference!
