Hi Guys,

Need to get my ZS serviced, can anyone suggest anywhere in the Essex (Chelmsford)/North London/Herts area?

I know theres a showroom in Enfield, but can't find any mention of them on the web. That would be good as my missus lives around there, otherwise I'd be looking for somewhere close to home in Chelmsford or work in Basildon.

Chris.

Are you looking for a main dealer, or an independent specialist?

If the former, then a xpartautoservice.com brings up the garages listed below as the nearest to Enfield. I have no experience of any of them, but the chances are that most will be former MGR dealers.

If you want independent specialists, I would suggest you try asking the question over on www.xpowerforums.com

Hope that helps!

Chris.

Thanks Chris.

Either - I assumed MGR main dealers didn't exist any more as there are no new cars to sell until they briefly resurface as 'Nanjing friendly boy pro turbo' or something equally ludicrous then go bankrupt again.

On a serious note, I guess independants tend to cost less, but may be harder to resell unless the service stamps are all MG?

Can I ask where you got that list from? (ie is it somewhere I can search for a nearest dealer or something) I should really take a look for anyone around Chelmsford too.

Hi Chris,

This isn't that close to Chelmsford, but there's an independant MG specialist in Southend, company name is British Legends, run by Steve Tyler. He has loads of personal recommendations, he done some work for me (although I don't use him often as I live in Kent). He really knows his stuff.

I wouldn't worry about having a full main dealer service history, it won't be easy to get main dealer stamps any more. As someone else mentioned you can use and X Part service centre.

Anyway here's Steve's contact details (you might need to email him for his mobile number):

Those details are off www.xpartautoservice.co.uk The search facility is at www.xpartautoservice.com/mmt/renderServer/core/default.aspx?pageSrc=dynamic_content%2fUK%2fdefaultUK.ascx

MGR sold their parts division to Caterpillar before they went bust, and that is what now operates under the name Xpart. Since the demise, Xpart have added the service centre branding to the parts outlet branding. In most (but not all) cases, their service centres are ex-MGR main dealers anyway, and it will be as close as you can get to a main dealer service history. I live in Epsom, and EMG, the MGR dealer here now sells Susukis and Chryslers (and yes, the juxtaposition of the Jimny and the 300C in their showroom is rather weird), but is also an Xpart service centre.

Cheers Emma.

I work near Basildon, so South End isn't too bad - it's got a train station too IIRC, so can drop the car off and retreat from chav-dom
