Come on.....own up, who was the gentleman in a V8 MGB rag top who tried to overtake me on the dual carriageway to Hopton on Sunday?

When you put your foot down in the wet with a rear wheel drive, you gt this effect called oversteer.

On a serious note, I hope you're okay, I noticed you managed to stop just before heading into the central reservation, after doing a full 360!

I bet when you offered your young girl passenger a 'spin' in the old MGB, that wasn't exactly what she had in mind!

Bet it's got those lovely 70s brown deckchair seats! If it didn't, I bet it does now...

lol!

It did look quite amusing though. I had the old fella on my backside through the village, he probably thought "That chap probably doesn't think my old car can beat his"

I knew what he was thinking, and I also knew what an MGB V8 is capable of....so, anyway, I put my foot down a little, just to make it interesting, and he gunned it...and went for a little spin.

Can't wait to get my 'C' on the road!!!!

b's in the wet don't always go in the direction you point them, they are not that great in the dry come to think of it[huge body roll, go faster brakes and a rear axle that sway's around like buggery as you slide out of control wishing you had removed your foot from the throttle that split second earlier]

Try setting it up properly then!

What he says! I have driven a standard rubber bumper gt in the wet and it was truly dreadful; the brakes were awful, the car stepped out at will at the slightest sign of dampness.

Then I get back in mine - decent tyres, thicker anti-roll bar, slightly lower springs, beefed up at the front, decent bushes (v8 at the front, yellow poly at the back), gas shocks at the back, uprated dampers at the front, green stuff pads and it's a relevation in comparison.... probably only cost about a grand to do as well.

Still pants in snow though!

Dont get me wrong I love the mgb, on a standard b other than checking the suspension is to manufactures spec there is very little to set up.

Used to have a roadster with a J E Developments 4.6 V8 myself. great fun in the dry on a straight road. In the wet, better be very careful indeed, lethal is a word that comes to mind.

A degree of polybushing, rear anti roll bar and thicker oil in the dampers makes the world of difference.
