After many years of pinking problems in my MG BGT I was advised to try Shell's Optimax as this was 98 octane and would help eliminate this problem. As if by magic it worked!
As I now have my MG tucked away in hibernation for the winter, I wondered if any of you lot have tried Shell's V-Power which is 99 octane, and if so, is it any better?

I run a '62 MGA Coupe and generally frequent the East Anglia forum, but saw this on here and thought I'd chip in my tuppenyworth. Not noticed any particular difference between Optimax and V-Power, or the BP or Total equivalents. They make all the difference compared to using cooking 95 octane unleaded - noticeably cleaner running, better starting better idling, better pick up and more power. No contest - haven't run mine on anything else since they became available. Push out more heat, so think about insulation wrapping the exhaust to dissipate heat further down the pipe and away from the engine bay.
