Fan heater problems

Hi all
My friend has a MGTF and she is having a few problems with the heater and fan controls.
This is what she wrote in the text she sent me.
I cant turn the fan heater off so it gets really hot. They are only on slightly when the dial is in the off position but the main problem is that I cant turn the temp down, its always hot air. The temp dial also gets stuck when you try to turn it to hottest, so wondering if its gone wonky and that's why when it looks like its on cold its still on hot. Can I take the dial thing off without breaking it?
Any MGTF drivers in here ever had anything similar? I did do a search but it didn't give anything on this car.

Sounds to me like the cables behind have probably become unattached or broken. Don't own one any more, but if you ask on the mg board on www.mgcars.org.uk I'm sure someone will be able to help...
