Hi,

I have a 1.4 petrol MG ZR,

It was last serviced on 15-August 2005 at 28004 miles. Thing is current mileage is just over 33,000.

Seeing as how the car has no warranty is it still worth getting it serviced at a former MG dealer, or just take it to the local garage? especially seeing as its done just over 5,000 miles in the last year??

Do former MG dealers still carry out official MG services, i.e. would I be able to trade it in or sell it with FMGSH??

just do it yourself no point in having dealer service history on a car that has no manufacturer support.

Cheers

You have confirmed what I was thinking! 4200 miles in a year is an all time low for me!

I'm servicing my ZS myself these days, I can do most jobs up to changing a cambelt.

i'd say service yourself, but be aware that the resale value will be less than normal as you wont have a full stamped service history.

I think im resigned to the fact that i will probably get very little for it when I sell it anyway,

I think on a trade in, the value would only be about £2k - £2.5k! which is frustrating as a I bought it new!

Hi
Like Stuart I have an 03 ZR 105 which I bought a year later in 04 with 6000 miles on it. It has now done 41,000. It is serviced by the dealer I bought it off at present and will be now that next time it will need its cambelt changing. After that I would like to service it myself like I did with all my previous MGs, but they were pre computer. Has any one a device for plugging a diagnostic service for the car on a laptop? Something like that would make DIY Service a lot easier

It has just had a new back box as the pipe broke just behind the flange that joined it to the main exhaust. Is this a normal weak spot? I do 300 miles a week in it to and from work. It`s as much fun as any previous MG I have had, from T-Types through MGA, MGB,and Montegos and corners like a go kart!
