I've just bought a ZT V8, looking forward to picking it up next week!!!

Now I'll just swap the insurance off my other car for the time being, but when it comes to renewal are there any top tips for decent insurance quotes? A quick check on confused.com gave pretty high quotes, presumably because mainstream insurers are wary of the cars?

Or are they just expensive to insure full stop. I'd have thought that they weren't high risk cars, and only the demise of MG Rover is causing the mainstream guys to quote high.

Any ideas?

Hi, have you spoken to the guys at xpower forums yet, or joined the two-sixties.com. Lots of other owners and advice over there on this subject.

Cost of repair is one of the driving factors for insurers.. due to the fact that the V8 (as far as I understand) was produced in relatively low numbers, it is certain to push premiums up..

Throw your details at confused.com and see what you get back..

Lancaster's on-line quotes are pretty good - they quoted about 500 quid fully comp for my car, but I'm based in the Dales - not exactly a high risk crime area.

The rarity of the 260s shouldn't really be an issue, as the engine is a Ford engine, and most of the other non-standard parts are shared with other mainstream cars as well (rear diff on TVR and Holden, aircon compressor on a Ford Galaxy etc)..

I've insured mine for £600 with Admiral, 35, clean licence, driveway parked in Epsom, 5yrs NCB and class 1 business use, which I thought was pretty good! You really do have to shop around though, as an insurance company which is cheap for one person can be sky high for another for no apparent reason.
