MGF Auto (CVT) trouble

Hi all,
My girlfriends W-reg MGF Steptronic is suffering from a stalling problem, which seems to occur everytime she starts the car for the first time in the day. She'll start the engine, depress the brake pedal and select 'drive', but then when she releases the brake pedal the car stalls. When she restarts the car and does the same thing, the car will behave perfectly - the car only ever stalls the first time.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what this may be? I didn't realise that a CVT gearbox could allow the engine to stall in this way, although I have just been enformed on the General Gassing page that a CVT works in a totally different way to a standard auto box.
