ANY engine can be made to fit the F/TF, the problem is cost...... NOT the engine, the conversion!!..

There is not another manufactures engine that is a `direct fit` ie you would need to convert engine/gearbox mounts gear cables, ECUs drive shafts/hubs etc, etc, and this is where the cost lies!!..

The two `F` conversions I know about are Gerry Hoirns `Golden Wheels` which has the Honda Civic Type-R engine fitted and converted by Mike Satur, but IIRC this cost over £10K to complete!!!.. see.>> www.gerryhiorns.co.uk/

The other conversion is the Rover KV6 engine fitted to an `F`, but again a lot of time and money went into this conversion also.

Have seen both the above cars and have to say they are superb conversions and a credit to their owners.......... I only wish I had the time and money to do mine!!!!!

HI
"WOW THANKS' THAT GOLDENWHEELS MG IS AMAZING"
YEH MONEY IS THE BIGGEST FACTOR
THATS WHY I POSTED TO SEE IF ANYONES TRIED OR HERD OF CONVERSIONS SEEING SOME OF THE LOTU'S I JUST THAUGHT THE MG'S WHERE MISSING OUT
ALSO WHY NOT THE LOTUS TOYOTA ENGINE FOR THE MG
OR A SIX SPEED BOX CONVERSION FOR THE ORIGINALL K SERIES MOTER FROM THE LOTUS

IM TRYING TO LOOK AT THAT DURATEC CONVERSION FOR THE ELISE (JUST AS AN IDEA TILL I THINK OF SOMETHIN ELSE TO DO)
BECAUSE IT USES THE PG1 BOX UNLIKE OTHER CONVERSIONS THAT UTILIZE THE ENGINES ORIGINALL MANUFACTURE BOX
KEEPING THE BOX/AXLES/CABLES/CLUTCH FROM THE MGF THERE SO LOOKS LIKE LESS HASSLE OVER OTHER WAYS,

I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA AND THE COMPUTER SCREEN IS THE CLOSEST I GET TO SEEING SOME OF THESE CONVERSIONS?
BUT IN AUSTRALIA WE HAVE MANY FORD/HONDA ETC PARTS CHEAPER THAN I CAN GET ROVER PARTS FROM EUROPE COULD BENFIT FROM THAT
IF DID WOULD BE THE MEANEST MG IN AUST
WELL ANYWAY THANKS FOR THE REPLY'S
WOULD WELCOME MORE CURIOS MG OWNERS IMPUTES.

Why dont you email 'Goldenwheels' and ask him fr information. If honda parts are available at home you may be able to reduce your costs?

I think it would be easier/cheaper to `sort`your own engine........ you should be able to get a reliable 200bhp if you wanted to go down that road..

a few options for the `K` here:>> http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/DVAndrew

Any K16 engine that's in some Elises is a fairly simple swap and apparently the 1.8 turbo that's in certain Audis is also a simple swap, but usually there's some work to do with the wiring and ECU to be done.
