Advice on MGF 'T' reg

Hi.
My wife's MGF gave up the ghost last week. There was a noise coming from the engine behind her and then the car was loosing power in all gears. It seems that no power was being delivered. I have the car with a small garage in Flitwick who I dont think know what they are doing. They have checked Cam Belt, Fuel valves, Diaphram and have sent off for an ECU test but it has come back all clear.
Does anyone have any other ideas for me.

Not a lot to go on from your description and I'm surprised the garage can't find the fault as the engine is pretty standard.
You will probably be better trying to get an answer from www.mgcars.org.uk, go into "Bulletin Board" and then either MGF General or MGF Technical.
They are a very knowlegable group of people there and I'm sure you will get some help from them.

What sort of noise was the car making??If it is a VVC then it is possible that one of the cam gears has worked loose, this can happen on the VVC engines, this then causes the timing to be lost and it will shut down or seem to loose power. If it is a VVC then it has been known for the actual VVC inlet cams to become separated internally , having the same effect as described. The 'noise' could be the valves making contact with the pistons (ouch). The VVC has two cam belts so make sure the garage is aware of the VVC differences.
