MGB 1970 instrument panel lights query
Discussion
Hi,
Recently purchased a 1970 MGB and loving it 😍
Of course a few little niggles to sort and hopefully a easy answer here.
When i put the lights on, on the first switch (side lights) the instrument panel lights come on however when i switch to main driving lights the instrument lights go out which means i cannot see any dials when driving at night, fuel, speedo, revs,
Any ideas please ?

Hi,
I did initially think it was the dimmer switch that was faulty and took me a couple of days to realise that the instruments light up when side lights on only, can only assume somebody has pulled a wire at some point and put back in wrong.
Might be as simple as the lights switch feed to instruments but thought i would ask here first,
I don’t need the dash lights on when on side lights, just when on main driving lights, i.e dark

Not familiar with MGs, is it a rocker switch, first click sidelights, second click dipped beam?
Have you had a look at the back of the switch? It might be the switch, it might be that it's been incorrectly rewired from a previous job.
Post up some pics. Have you got a multimeter? If you haven't, I'd make that one of the first thing you buy.
