I have a 1966 Midget 1380 which I use for road and hill climbs/sprints. I used to run Kuhmo V70 175/60/13 tyres which had excellent grip but would catch on the inner rear arch under hard cornering (my car has square arches but they are rolled). I am in need of new tyres this season and the Kuhmo V70 is now on MSA list 1c so basically classed as a slick tyre so no use for the classes I compete in. I am struggling to select a suitable replacement tyre and am hoping someone can offer advice or comment on the following options....

ROAD LEGAL COMPETITION TYRES

Nankang AR1 175/50/13 - a similar style of track tyre to Toyo 888 but is a 50 profile too low for a car like the Midget?

Extreme VR2 175/50/13 - as above?

Avon ACB10 sport - I know some Midgets that Hillclimb use these but on round rear arch cars so not sure they will fit

Avon CR6ZZ 175/70/13 - nice classic competition tyre but again not sure if these will fit under square arches as they are a higher profile 175

NORMAL ROAD TYRES

Yokohama A539 175/60/13

Any other suggestions welcome...

Avon or Yokohama.

If wjeelarch clearance is an issue raise the suspension 1/2” or skim a mm from the wheel mounting face to increase the offset.

Looking like the Yoka A539 175/60/13 is my best bet but expect they will be a step down in grip from the Kuhmo V70 I used to use.

Changing the offset is not an option as it then gets too close to the leaf spring on the inside.
