MGB - Unleaded fuel additive

Hi all,

After a bit of advice (again), my old BGT is close to being back on the road after 15+ years dry stored in a garage. I've done lots of work replacing all the bits I think it's needed and this week sees it having it's "mock" MoT to check all is well.

As it's been stored for so long it still has the original cylinder head for leaded fuel. I'm planning to change this but am holding off as I want to do a few other "performance" tweaks at the same time.

In the meantime I'm looking for recommendations for a suitable fuel additive and would welcome your thoughts and suggestions?

I've been using Castrol Valvemaster plus for about 10 years. The plus version compensates for the lower octane rating of unleaded, so no retiming required.

Have you tried the metal “pellets” you leave in the fuel tank?

I used the valvemaster for some time. When I stripped down the engine, the valves and seats were knackered beyond belief. Don't know how much of it was due to the additive or previous abuse, but it didn't give me a great impression.
