Hi,

Have had a good search around with no luck, ive recently bought a 3.5Efi v8 to rebuild, the engine has come with everything, except ecu and air flow meter. From the engine number (25d) Ive found it’s a 1986 onward engine. Is there a way from this and looking at wiring loom/injection system which Ecu and air flow meter I should buy?

Thanks in advance

Matt, look here for your precise engine application https://rimmerbros.com/content--name-Rover-V8-Engi...

Your engine looks like a R.Rover efi auto 9.35:1cr 25D00001 1986 onwards and because of model year could be either a GEMS or 14CU/CUX ECU engine. The best place to ask for RV8 info' is the v8forum, their collective knowledge knows no bounds...

If 14CU/CUX the MAF/AFM will be the Lucas/Hitachi unit. If you'd really like to know the 14CUX ECU here's some bedtime reading http://www.g33.co.uk/pages/technical_fuel_injectio...

Does the plenum have a 9th "cold start" injector fitted? If so this is the early "flapper" type system, parts are becoming hard to find for these, they were quite a crude system and there would be little sense in fitting one to a vehicle from scratch now.

Some photos of what you have would help to identify

I now think I’ve got a 4cu system, no 9th injector, but the ecu plug has 2 rows of connectors (see photo), and I believe the 14CU and 14CUX have 3 rows?

that's correct...you must have an early 25D, or, like many engines it may have been modified in the past
