Now into my fifth week as an MG ZT-T CDi (2003) owner. Much different from my old '78 B but still fun to drive. Until yesterday, that is! Starting off last night to visit my wife in hospital I noticed that clutch travel was a bit on the short side. After a mile or two it disappeared altogether. I am assuming that itz is down to the fluid as the clutch and slave cylinder were replaced by the previous owner, who had had it less than 12 months. Has anyone got suggestions as to how to top this up quickly as I haven't found the reservoir under the bonnet. Or am I blind?

The clutch reservoir is above the pedals in the cabin, not under the bonnet. You need to sign up to the 75 & ZT club. Excellent website.

What he said. Clutch master cylinders are a faf on these but you will get used to filling and bleeding it smile
If there is only one slave that works on these so if the prev owner put an oem / cheapy one in with the clutch, you will most likely continue to have problems.
Great cars tho!!

Having been driving w/o a clutch and dropping in at every (almost) car workshop I happened to be passing I got in touch with the people who fitted the master cylinder in April 2018. The car is now with them waiting to conform (or not) that the master cylinder is u/s. If yo he has promised to do ir under warranty. However, if it is not the master cylinder, I do not know what else to do. One kind garage put some fluid in the m/c but within two declutching there was nothing again.

It will be the slave. Have you joined the mgzt forum yet?
There will be someone on there local to you, who knows what they are talking about.

Thanks for the reminder Chirume. No. Will do now. Cannot see any leakage from the slave anywhere, though.

Er, I do not want to seem too dumb, but is the MGZT forum to be found on this site?

I think it's the LUK slave you need but change the master at the same time to ensure no further issues.

I have just spoken to the person who fitted the master cylinder last April, having taken the car to him for assessment. He says that there is fluid enough in the system but the master cylinder itself is moving when the clutch pedal is depressed. He is now fitting a new master cylinder under warranty, but indicated that the people who fitted the clutch and slave cylinder in November could easily have caused damage to the master cylinder, but as he cannot prove this he is doing the work under warranty. I should be able to collect the car tomorrow afternoon. Any comments?

New master under warranty is good I guess.. But if it's a cheap slave then the problems will likely persist...
