Colour combinations B'GT
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I am just looking for some inspiration for my '74 B'GT (Chrome bumper). The car was originally Harvest Gold with an all black interior however some years ago I had it completely re-sprayed to British Racing Green. The interior is getting a little (well a lot) shabby and needs a spruce up.
Given I will be starting with a blank canvas I would welcome any thoughts on a good interior colour to match the BRG. I am currently thinking either black seats and panels with green piping and (maybe) dark green carpets or "biscuit" for seats, panels and carpets. Any comments, and especially photo's, would be appreciated.
Also has anyone done anything different with the standard dashboard finish? If I go for the "biscuit" interior I don't think a black dash will match?
Thanks in advance for any (helpful) comments.

As a basic principle, stay within the colour concepts used originally as I've never seen a bespoke colour combination look anything other than 'individual'.
Green leather looks great, but only with light green or Old English White interior, so with a BRG external colour I think you're right to look at tan or black. Also contracting piping really looks as good as the idea sounds IMHO.

Thanks for the reply Paul. I wasn't looking at anything outlandish but trying to get a feel for what would look right with BRG. I still favour a black interior but the wife thinks a lighter (biscuit) would make the interior brighter, especially on the GT. Part of the problem is I don't think the black "crinkle" dash would go with a light interior so I'm thinking of spraying it BRG to match the bodywork and having biscuit vinyl on the dash top and rail. I have time to think about this as the old girl hasn't gone anywhere for a number of years and there are mechanical bits and bobs to be sorted first.
Thanks again, Seymour
(PS love the McLaren and the past association with TVR!)

Cheers, I know it sounds feeble to be talking restraint on colours after a long TVR ownership doesn't it?
Green with tan works really well however I'd avoid anything too light on the dash-top otherwise you may get distracting reflections on the windscreen. Was red ever an option with the BRG? I've seen a few Midgets and Austin Healey's in dark racing green, with red seats and door cards.
I'm going to have a similar issue with my Black Tulip BGT project as the Ochre yellow interior isn't fully available. I'm likely to end up with the dash and headlining as original, black carpets through-out and tan trim. Should compliment the purple nicely

Hi Paul,
I hadn't considered red with the BRG as I thought it might be too much if you know what I mean (and would have to rename the car Holly!). I understand your comment about reflections and will bear that in mind too.
Love the purple(ish) colour of your project; very individual and distinctive.....also very TVR. I hope you are able to source the Ochre interior you need and would love to see photos as the work proceeds!

Yes - if I had a blank canvas I think that would look both different and great - Phil Glennister did something like it with the Aston DBS they did in "for the love of cars". James Bond green and Ox Blood red. Slightly lighter than BRG - but equally as good.Green with tan works really well however I'd avoid anything too light on the dash-top otherwise you may get distracting reflections on the windscreen.
