Engine out seems a bit OTT. You will need to get under the car to get the gearbox mount off, undo the prop etc anyway. All the gearbox bolts are easy access compared to a modern. To do it safely you will need a decent High Lift Jack, stands etc but again you really need all that to get the engine out.

Edited to actually finish post grrrrrrrrr bloody kindle!

Bonnet off, carbs off, manifold either pulled away from head face or split manifold from downpipe and leave carbs on. Starter out, ring of bolts out, engine mounts unbolted, earth strap, wiring off, rad lifted out. Attach engine lift strap lift out. Replace clutch and refit. Its an afternoons work. Incredibly simple job. Just make sure you centralise the clutch plate otherwise it's a pain to get the 1st motion shaft back in.
