Another MGA Gearbox qustion
Discussion
Hi all
I'm after some advice.
I'm rebuilding the gearbox for my '57 MGA, (3 synchro) All stripped down and I've replaced all the bearings.
On reassembling the main shaft I notice that I have about 3mm lateral play in the 1st gear hub on the mainshaft.
The limits of its travel are the bearing at the rear and the thrust washer at the other end of the splines. I'm pretty sure there are no missing parts (none shown in the manual or on the spares site either). The splines the hub sit on are 3mm longer than the hub.
What am I missing? or what have I done wrong?
Thanks in advance
Dave
