Hi there. My '78 BGT died the other other day, whilst driving. Problems started with bad misfire above 3000rpm which got progressively worst down the rev range to the point where the engine died and wouldn't re-start. AA man said there was no spark and suspected distributor cap.
I've gapped and cleaned the points, inspected the dis cap which looked OK and checked all connections etc,. and all seemed to be OK. Still won't start. I've have today ordered a new cap and condenser.
Are the symptoms I've described (gradual decline in performance resulting in engine stopping and won't re-start) consistent with either distributor cap or condenser failure?
Thanks for any assistance. I can do most jobs but seem to fail when it comes to electrics.
