MGF Clutch Not Engaging
Discussion
Hi
I'm having trouble with the Clutch on the MGF, basically the clutch peddle is sticking and coming up very slowly. Mostly the clutch just appears to be letting out very slowly but the other day the clutch was not fully engaging at all.
The problem appears to be intermittent as driving the car today the clutch was 100% normal could it be temperature related? As it first started happening in December during the cold.
Is the clutch on the MGF cable or hydraulic? I'm sure it not the actual clutch but more the external workings of engaging and disengaging the clutch.
I have taken it to a Mr Clutch who fobbed me off with "The clutch need replacing" for £800 I DON'T THINK SO!
It is booked in at an MG Garage but that not for another 2weeks!
Any ideas would be very much appreciated:
Cheers

Sounds like a rather well known problem ...

I try to translate ...
The problem is Rust causing the ~clutsh's disengaging lever~ to stuck in the gear box case.
This is easy and more or less unexpensive to fix (lubricating it should do the trick) ... but you should do it asap! It is cousing the clutch to grind ... and will chafe the clutch very fast.
