MG Midget Prices
Discussion
These days I should think £12K plus.........But probably good value as a long term investment . I do not think that they have overtaken the Frogeye, and these can still be had for mid teens if nicely restored, and the Mk 2 Midget is a better car! (ducks to avoid flack! ) Its the wind up windows!
Rust is always an issue on both Spitfire and Midget. Probably easier to deal with on a Midget as most repairs can be done without stripping to a bare shell, wheras the separate chassis of the Spitfire needs the body off to successfully repair. That said, there are a lot of very good examples of the 1500 version of both on the market for less than three grand, with the Spitfires doing just a little better than the Midgets. Its a rubber bumper thing! In my opinion, the Midget is the better car to drive, being tighter on the rear end, but the Spitfire has more room inside, and the nice cutaway door line with the roof down. It comes down to choice . The older they are, the more rusty, so a well restored one is best, then there is the new heritage shell rebuild which is the ultimate if you want mint with minimal fuss......But be prepared to pay £10K- £12K plus.
All prices seem to be on the up, so choose quick.

I have just put my Midget 1500 up for sale on here, but having doubts about if I should sell it now reading this!
They do seem good value classics at the moment compared to others - being a Porsche fanatic, classic Porsche is just gone stratospheric and totally out of the average mans reach now.

Mind you, 60 in the midget feels like 120 in my S8 anyway

That is the whole point! Currently, the driving experience on the roads in a200 plus BHP sportscar is one of frustration, everywhere one goes, itching to give it its head, but always reeling it back because of this and that in the way , returning angry and frustrated!
This does not happen in a midget.
The 10/10ths driving experience can be had trying to keep up with a Ford Focus!! Returning grinning from ear to ear, having had a wonderful exhilarating drive!

Does anyone know the best place to advertise a Midget - I stuck mine on here earlier in the week and had no interest yet, but I guess a Midget isn't very 'PH'
Is there a more classic / MG orientated place to place an Ad?
Try Carandclassic........good free ad site, lots of MGsIs there a more classic / MG orientated place to place an Ad?

So you can imagine what 115mph (1330 engine and a 5 speed box) feels like in a Frogeye! Having said that 100mph on track with my hands off the wheel and it's completely stable
I certainly can, My Midget has about 90 BHP and has an Ashley GT hard top, stable at speed, but deafening! :-)I really like your Frogeye by the way...looks like one should!
I wont ask why you took your hands off the wheel on a racetrack...............................;-)

Then you can imagine what a V8 powered frogeye, that does 0 - 110mph in 13seconds, feels like on the road......
