1964 MGB Roadster valuation (Midlands)
Discussion
Having recently spent over £10k having an '64 MGB Roadster refurbished I'd like a second opinion on the work done and valuation I was given on the finished car. I was curious how to go about doing this. Coming from the Midlands, does anybody know of an independend specialist that may help?
Thx

FWIW I would use the local clubs (MGOC, MGCC) to get recommendations in the local area.
10k is an awful lot of dosh and the list of things done must be extensive?
I suspect from your post that you are not completely convinced the work was done or the quality is not as you expected. In that case an independent inspection will help settle your mind.
Valuation is always less than we think it should be and almost certainly less than you've spent! I do all my own work and still don't expect to get a return on the materials used and forget about the cost of my time....

The value for a good 64 car would be in the region of 12-16k, A fully restored car 24-29k but not many sell at that price. If you consider that to rebuild a car will cost around 30k from most shops.
I spent 24k on shell and running gear no engine. I could have spent less by buying a new shell and fitting the tunnel but that defeats the object of keeping the car.
Enjoy the car look after the body the mechanics are the cheap part ! 10k to put a smile on your face is a good investment
