Apologies if this has been covered before...

Anybody know a good source for spare distributor cap clips to fit a Lucas 45D dissy on an MGB GT.

Cleverly snapped one trying to bend the retaining loop so it wouldn't keep falling off. Have tried http://www.distributordoctor.com/, but £18.60 all in for a clip seems a little steep!

Cheers.

When I saw the thread title I was going to post the distributor doctor as an answer. However that price does seem a bit on the steep side. Have any of the other MG suppliers got them?

I was going to suggest that you could find a whole dissy on eBay but found this:

My B is parked nose first in my garage and I've got a cup of tea so you'll have to check it yourself. I'd be tempted to get this as a quick solution but save my pennies for the dear one.

Tried all the main ones - MGOC, Rimmer Bros, Moss, MGBHive, plus Google and ebay searches obv. Rare as hen's teeth it appears - hence a captive market. Next stop, MG breakers I guess!

Cheers - it's actually a different shape to the one I've got unfortunately. Lots more of that type of clip around, naturally! Might be for an earlier model or the 6-cylinder version maybe. See attached:

I've a feeling mine looks like that too. Mine's a '73 GT but has a 45D4 after the old dissy snapped.

ETA - Mine doesn't look like that at all. Mine's the curved one as per the ebay link. Please excuse the crap photo but this was taken in the dark depths of the garage.

Sorry but it looks like it's the Distributor Doctor for you!

No - that's actually very clear smile And I think I've solved the mystery. I also have a 73 'B, which originally came with a 25d4 dissy, supposedly upgraded to a 45D4 by the first owner, but looks like what I actually have is a 25D4 body adapted with a 45d4 cap. Not sure whether that's supposed to work but apparently it does!

I wonder then if the one from the DD will fit or if the clip you have has been bodged?

Anyway, welcome to pistonheads. Let's see some photos of your car!

Definitely bodged... Anyway, thanks to www.mgcars.org.uk/andyjennings a pair of clips are on their way for £5 including postage.

Thanks - nice to be here. For both of us:
