I'm looking at a respray for our 1500 Pageant Blue Midget and fancy giving it the retro look at the same time. My plan is to do a full respray in Riviera Blue, remove the bumpers, add spots in front of the grille, sit it on black wire wheels or mini-lites and carry out various mechanical revisions.

The car has sentimental value and won't be sold so I'm happy that it will no longer be original. I'm really looking for as much inspiration as possible so any web links and pics of similar fettled cars would be welcome. Feedback on full respray cost would also be helpful from anyone who has recently gone down this route. The car is in good condition with only a few rust spots over a rear wheel arch so little remedial work to do.

This is what I am looking to achieve.....(minus all the stickers).......

There's a new site for modified midgets which is www.kmidget.com

Focus on those with K series engines, but far from exclusive. Starting to build with lots of good photos and threads of tempting mods and looks. If you simply want to browse midget pics to see differing combinations of wheels, colours, grills, bumpers etc then searching for albums of spridget50 a few years back is a good start.

Personally I've stuck with full bumpers....but do keep considering getting rid and going for the rallye look :-)

Hi
If you take off the bumpers from a 1500 Midget you will find it sits a lot higher, as the "Rubber" bumpers hide a great big heavy steel girder! You can replace the 1500 springs with 1275 ones or lowered ones to get it looking better.
