MGB Heater Drain Tube [donkey's dick]
Discussion
Dear All, I've broken my dick...metaphorically speaking. Have just tried ordering one from the usual suppliers but it appears the heater drain tube is no longer available. Do any of the MG PH'ers know where I could either buy a new one, or, used in very good condition? All help greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Thank you
how very careless !
I don't think they've been available new for many a moon
I'd have thought you engineering types would be able to make up a substitute for yourselves, literally a piece of p*ss for bag wearing B drivers
manual mechanism to allow for weep or full evacuation when required or built-in automatic dump release as per original
c'mon now you surely don't want to be told how you could do it by the likes of a non-engineer, non-mechanical, non-technical idiot like me
ETA: I think it's also known as Tom's kn*b or Tom's d*ck by some

you could give Andy Jennings a try for a s/h one - http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/andyjennings/mgb-parts.h...
Thanks Nigel, yes, very careless of me and should know better. Needed to remove the thing when prep'ing inside of car, it wouldn't come off, was tired from a long days grafting and took a cutter to it without realizing they were unavailable..."stupid boy". Can easily make a tube that will do the job but would be better in buying the real thing.
If anyone has a spare in their garage do get in touch...

I very nearly did the same thing while doing the transmission tunnel mods to mine a few months back, reading this I am glad I didn't.If anyone has a spare in their garage do get in touch...
A friend has an MGB he plans to sell/break, possibly, if I can pin him down. I'll see if he wants to part with that bit.

Thanks Task, luckily Gary at Andy Jennings has found one for me. Suggest your friend 'holds onto his dick' !! They are nigh impossible to find - currently only two on ebay and none of the normal suppliers have any. A rare thing indeed.A friend has an MGB he plans to sell/break, possibly, if I can pin him down. I'll see if he wants to part with that bit.

Is it the duck bill drain globe at the bottom which is made of unobtanium?
yes and no, the original is but the clever engineers ought to be able to make something upI don't really know why it's fitted

What is the diameter of the globe?
no idea and we don't want Tim getting his tape measure out yet againtbh I thought the globe was part of the tube, never really studied it
interesting to know the globe bit is available
I realise how it works but can't think why it's really needed - do you know?
ETA : from a seller of duckbill drains -
"They prevent fumes and debris from entering the car while allowing the water to drain out. Chances are if they do exist on your car and they are the original(s), they are dried up from age and heat. Duckbills in this condition are not operational. This is not good!"

Yes, Tim, it does...but for all the wrong reasons...plus, is Mrs LBS aware of your notoriety?Nigel, thank you for the Andy Jennings prompt. The new [second hand] appendage arrived yesterday in its very own snug 'Jiffy' bag and all for the princely sum of £10 incl' P&P. Now that's very good service. Thank you.
