I love my ZTT 190. It makes ALL the right noises.
Following on from other posts on the forum I visited the MG X power forums to see whats what there too.
Rather than post this there, I thought I'd ask the PH community this question!

My ZT 190 has always had a little quirk that at 2800rpm there is a distinct induction warble. It's not there below this, and by 3000rpm it's gone.
It's always done this, and frankly i've loved it!!!
Reading the x power forum there are people there banging on about induction system faults and all sorts. I don't have the clicking noises and other symptoms they are complaining about, just my induction warble at 2800rpm.
Does anyone elses 190 do this? Or do I have a fault I hadn't recognised?

I've never noticed it, but I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Will have a listen tonight.

Nope - can't hear anything unusual between 2800 and 3000 rpm.

5000 upwards is a different matter

Thanks for checking matey. I'll have it looked at at some point.
They do sound good at 5000rpm+ though don't they!?

I have 160 V6 and around 3500 - 3800 there is a lovely burble from the exhausts which then disappears again I assumed this was the cams coming on song.

One of the PHers on here rode in mine once last year and swore it was the best V6 he had ever heard. But then at the end of last year at the 36k service, they upgraded the software which lowered the peak torque from 3700 to 3000rpm, and I think it is not as nice a growl as it used to be, but the car is better to drive on the motorway and a little more economical.

Mine does the same and just as we do I think you should just enjoy it.

Could it be the variable intake ramp operating? It opens at about 3000 rpm and that's what gives you the surge...
Check out the "Ask the Guru's" section in the forums at www.mg-rover.org
