Hi,
I have sourced a used axle for sale which was taken off a written off roadster. As this is not a factory original car I am concerned it may not be a V8 axle.

The vender is not certain on its gearing. He says the only notable markings on it are RTB837. I googled this and it turned up nothing.

What are the differences? Isn't there some difference with the diff housing?

I don't want to chance it and end up with another 1800 axle!

Thanks,
Jack

The V8 axle has a larger pinion flange. ( the bit that the prop shaft bolts to.)
Other than that there are no visual differences.

The point of using a v8 axle is the ratio. If the axle is off it's very easy to check the ratio just by turning the input shaft and counting the rotations of the brake drums.
