Doing a refurb of the interior of my MGC Roadster over the winter and as the seats are past their sell by I thought I'd upgrade to a pair with headrests and solve my seatbelt problem at the same time. Having tried to research whether MGB seats will fit I have heard three variations, no they do not, yes they do and yes they do if modified. Before I commit to buy a rather nice set of MGB seats I have found can someone with first hand experience enlighten me please.

C seats are a different frame to the B.

They are totally interchangeable though, a B seat in a C will be higher at the front, my Dad used to actually fit a B seat out of choice as he liked being canted back slightly, I don't mind either way, certainly if you were retaining a standard sized steering wheel it would be a bit tight for leg room, but most people run a smaller diameter wheel so yes it would be fine.

If your anywhere near Yorkshire your welcome to borrow a B seat for a week or 2 and see if you get on with it.

Ah never mind, my advice is to give it try, I'd be surprised if you don't like it.

I will try. Had a look at my seats as fitted and I can see evidence of possible brazing in the front of the frames so either that was a factory fix or a previous owner did it to fit the later type reclining seats which are definitely not original for my '68. I used to be a dab hand at welding/brazing so if the worst comes to the worst its not going to be too bad. Thanks for the help, maybe catch up at an event next year.

No probs I'm hoping to get to the MGC day next year, I missed this years which is a shame as it's a cracking day, I very rarely miss Silverstone though, provided I can get my mx5 and 944 done and out of the way then I will be there in either one of the Cs or the '66 GT that I need to get started on.

Hopefully see your C there!

Missed this year also. Hope to be there in 2014, with headrests hopefully! smile
