Is this over-priced....

Is that being quoted by a garage / dealer by any chance as it does seem high, when you have the recommended guys on the MG forums who do a mobile service that charge much less than that.

What else are you getting done for that quoted price? Is it just the gasket replacement or is there also skimming of the head, or other work like water pump, cambelt, etc, being supplied & fitted at the same time.

Either way it does seem high if it's just for a basic HG replacement with no skimming, etc, as I paid under half of that quote to get my mums ZR done recently and that also included new pump, belt, thermostat, etc, etc.

They sent the engine away for a skim, and because I had driven back from Whitby when it happened they said that more damage could have happened. On later examination when the engine had been replaced, they said it needed the turbo repaired (£1600).

I've decided to cut my losses and get rid....what do you think?
Having just paid £775 for a piece of scrap.....the wife is not too pleased.

I think you have been ripped off. £775 for a head gasket is ridiculous, unless they needed to source a new head. £1600 for a turbo is just a joke.
