Currently running a VVC MGF.
Question, will a TF be much better? Or indeed a 160?
Fancy something a bit newer but the 135, on paper at least, is a lot slower, i suspect in non red line situations there is probably little if any difference.
On the other hand the 160s are hugely better or so i'm told.
So what's the verdict?
The CVT also sounds interesting, though lower powered it should in theory be on the power most the time. Having owned scooters and watched the William F1 car it would seem a cake and eat it situation?

I had the same dilemma in 2003 when I decided I wanted to change my '97 VVC F for a TF.
I took a TF135 out for a test drive and although it in the real world it wasn't hugely slower, I really missed the characteristics of the VVC engine.
Needless to say I saved up for a bit longer and bought a TF160.
The TF feels quite different to an F, so its a good idea to test drive one before making the decision.
Personally I prefer the handling and feel of the TF, but some people do find the standard TF ride a bit harsh after an F (this can be much improved with a change of dampers) the TF does have a stiffer chassis.

Just picked up an MGF Trophy.
Seems much more solid than the standard VVC, brakes are hugely better. 2001 version better interior.
Doesn't feel any quicker though TBH.
Has some appalling ditch finders on it, 4 different tyres. Still as it's a banger will get used for a few weeks first. Plenty of tread but little grip.
Would hate it to go bang after laying out for decent tyres.
