Mgf supercharger
Discussion
I've already contacted TTS (the uk dealer for Rotrex) and Turbotechnics who originally built the Rotrex kit for the Cheetah Mgf, with no luck. I'm looking for either a supercharger or may have to go Audi, my last car was a supercharged TVR Griffith so I'm looking for between 300-400bhp
Just had a thought regarding putting a turbocharged k series in my Mgf, all the problems seem to be centred around room for the turbo and the build up of heat. What if I had a custom exhaust manifold made up that relocated the turbo to a slightly higher position almost ontop of the rocker cover, this would mean that the air can get to the turbo and hopefully keep the engine bay cooler. I could then reshape the engine cover to fit around the raised turbo, or leave it off altogether as this is a track toy and not my everyday car.any thoughts or anyone else in the same predicament I would love to hear from you
Doesn't a supercharger produce more waste heat than a turbo?
Some pretty large vents in front of the rear arches, a suitably located turbo could be cooled quite well.
A well tuned 1.8K can get around 200hp anyway. More than enough i would think for a double ended Metro.

Lol, yeah, my car was last mapped at 178 bhp, but looking to make a big step up in power over the winter, so trying to either source a supercharger or parts for a turbo build between now and the end of autumn when the car comes off the road. The easy way would be to buy an Elise, but trying to do this on a lower budget than my previous car.
Supercharger conversion is about 5k, Honda vtec about 10k+, so I'm now looking at doing a DIY Audi 1.8T conversion, need to buy a decent Vag (Bam) 1.8T , Reyland do an adaptor plate that mates the Audi motor to the standard PG1 gearbox as fitted to Mgf and Elise/exige s1, this also means that the standard driveshafts and gear linkage will fit, they also supply the modified flywheel, so far should be about 2000, then an Emerald K3 and charge cooler, plus uprated fuel pump, pipework, etc, so about 3000-3500 now, have probably forgot some smaller things but would of thought if I do most of the work myself, should be possible for under 5k. Does anybody know if the section between the boot and the engine bay is structural, as this would most probably need to be removed to allow the positioning of the exhaust manifold and turbo. I'm not too bothered aslant as I can keep the car rigid, as I will most probably take the car off the road at that point, then keep it just for trackdays/maybe Timeattack.
Hangar 111 have taken over distribution of the k series supercharger kits from Turbo Techniks.
There was an MGF on ebay this week with the turbo technics conversion for £3k, but I cant find it now.
A guy in South Africa has a turbo'd MGTF and has a lengthy thread on MGrover.org about it. Also a chap on there just completing a build of a supercharged 1.9 engine which will be auctioned once its finished.
