MGB engine mount replacement
Discussion
Really losing my mojo for this job at the moment
Steering ack disconnected apart from 1 bolt which for the life of me I cannot undo, and there is no access to get the grinder down there, so I persevere anyways and manage to get the old knackered mount out with the use of trusty grinder as I couldn't get access to the bolt. New mount in place at least and the engine is back in its correct position, but I don't have a hope in hell in getting the nut back on with the steering shaft still in the car
I will have to give up for now and start again another day, and I still have the passenger side to start!
Any words of wisdom or encouragement appreciated.
At least i got the hefty front bumper removed ready for my sebring bits to turn up.

OP, don't lose your mojo...you'll just end up getting really pissed-off. There's no need to be taking a grinder to these parts; use penetrating fluid and heat to remove; if you've map gas, even better. Is it an early or late model B' as that'll determine how much room you've got for threading the nut. Good luck and think laterally...sometimes this really helps.
PS be sure to have plenty mugs of tea and biscuits to hand when needed

Unfortunately getting the mount off was definitely a grinder out job, and i have tried penetrating fluid and heat on the steering rack bolt but it still wont budge. When I got the other side out its clear that the whole length of the bolt is encrusted with horrible white corrosion.
Unfortunately the only 6 sided 1/2" socket I have is for a 1/4" ratchet, which is bending before the nut cracks off! I think the next plan of action will be finding a good 1/2" socket for my 1/2" ratchet.
I'm sure i will get there eventually, i just need to vent

I wanted an unusual size deep A/F the guy on the counter said "tommorrow..... but this won't help you today..........tell you what, I'll let you have one from the set and I'll replace it when the new one comes in.
They split a set to to get me the socket I wanted. (you won't get that from most suppliers)

you can get adapters to go down from 3/8" to 1/4" and up and down between 3/8" and 1/2"
I know others have tackled worst than me but I've always found a good penetrating/releasing fluid, time and patience, and possibly having to do a second soaking and over night, have always worked for me
I used to use my ancient single can of Rapideeze that was used on metal pipes that had been in the ground untouched for up to 70 years
