I'm thinking of getting an MGF as a little runaround for the summer and have seen a few steptronics advertised. Looking to spend between £1000-£1500 and I was just wondering if the steptronic is worth considering or would a manual be a safer option? I must admit that I hadn't considered anything other than a manual but having seen a couple of Youtube videos the steptronics do look interesting.

Each to there own, drive one is the best advice I can give.
I personally think the stepspeeds are horrible, sound horrible and are very slow for what they are.
However this is only my opinion

This. I really didn't like the stepspeed at all. In auto it's sluggish and really blunts performance, it's also a CVT transmission so it takes the revs up to peak torque and keeps them there (like a bus).

I got a manual one.

I've had manual and can't imagine an auto unless you just want to potter about which defeats the point of an mgf. also get a miltek for fun it makes a lot of difference.
