Hi all, just a quick question for anybody that might know what the problem is with my MG ZS and it's non illuminating Airbag/SRS light?

Basically it doesn't come on even as a check light before starting the car, all connectors look okay ander the seats and fuse is intact..

Something silly like a bulb blown or anything else?

Thanks.

This is the opposite problem to that faced by the majority of ZS owners, i.e. a lamp that won't go out. I suspect a previous owner has removed/disconnected it at some stage. The instrument panel is pretty easy to remove to check though.

Has the light just suddenly stopped working or always been like that since you got it ?

If the latter, chances are Mr2Mike is right. Either blown instrument bulb, unlikely, or, previous owner has removed it.

Not difficult to remove Instrument panel on these cars and check the appropriate bulb(s). These pictures will show you what to expect and what to look for. The Black Bulb Holders twist for removal from there slot locations. Easy to work out which is which :~

No need to completely remove the panel as in the pictures. The panel will have some electrical multiplugs and their cables will impeded removal anyway. You can still reach the bulbs simply pulling it forward once all the six ? or eight ? self-tapping screws are removed ... IIRC.. which is not always the case on account of senior memory deficiencies... wink

MGJohn, the light hasn't worked at all since I've owned the car approx a month, the guy who sold it to me said it had happened to him before and he got it sorted quite cheaply but didn't know what it is!

And I've had the clocks out and the bulb is on that separate wire which goes off into the loom isn't it? The bulb does look okay and I wasn't sure how I'd go about replacing it as its not the twist in type! Not sure if it pulls out the holder on the cable or not.
