Can anyone please tell me how much a garage should charge to fit a new alternator in an MG TF? I've a feeling we've been ripped off

These aren't gospel figures so I'm sure you can save a tenner here and tenner there.

The alternator itself is around £100 + VAT obviously more if you fit a genuine one, As with all things on an MGF/TF engine access is tight, so far harder than a front engine car, I cant remember if you can get in through the RHR wheel arch or not, Assuming you can't worst case I'd allow 2 hours to do the job by removing the access panel and come in from the top as well as the underside.
so then its obviously down to the garages hourly labour rate as to what your final bill will be.

Hope this helps

The altenator is behind the felt stuff in the right hand rear wheel arch.
Access is horrible, I had to do my fanbelt a while ago and it was a total pain.
