Trying to find my dads old MG BGT
Discussion
I was chatting to my dad this weekend and he is keen to get hold of another MG BGT, he had one back in the early seventies, in fact he can even remember the registration plate.
Just for a bit of fun I typed it into the DVLA licensing website and it came up. The car (reg. TPH 204M) was last taxed in 2008 so it could either be locked up in a garage or even scrapped, it is also now red (it was originally white) and was the last of the chrome bumper cars. Does anybody know the best way of tracing the owner? Even if it requires work it could be a nice project.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

You can apply to the DVLA using a V888 form requesting the history of a vehicle, but I'm not sure they'll issue the information if you are not the current owner, but I believe they will forward a letter for you. A V888 costs a fiver and takes about 8 weeks to come back but it can make for interesting reading.
Bob, you can place a search 'ad' with the MGCC and MGOC...both also have MGB forums online. Also try Practical Classics (or any other classic car mag') where they often have a small section of people trying to track down previously owned cars. It's good to put as much info' as possible. The MG guys are a close knit group of folk and if the car exists it should turn up. Once you know from which region the current owner is based you could try the local MG monthly meets; again these are shown on the MG Club sites.
