Just a thought, I will be laying my MGB 1800 up in a few months time, to start the big weld...
I have been offered a complete 3.9EFi with loom, injection, clutch/flywheel and LT77 box.
My car is running sweet as a nut on a Gold Seal B-series of around 40-50,000 mile vintage, with a (2005) recon overdrive, good box, clutch and axle. So there is really no need to change all of that. No backlash or whining of any sort. Even carbs seem good.
However it would make the restoration a lot easier if the mechanicals were out of the way, and the sale price of all that lot would, I reckon, cover the cost of a 3.07 axle quite comfortably.
I am posting a possible sale of the mechanicals as a job lot which could be tested and driven prior to removal as the car is still taxed tested and in regular use. This would include everything from the Kenlowe back to the axle and everything big and oily in between.
Anybody looking for mechanicals in a few months time, or anybody think I am barking mad?
Mine is a 1975 rubber GT.
