MGF bonnet release broken, any help please?

I have been going over my MGF VVC & sorting little niggles out, as I am selling in order to purchase a very nice Trophy 160 I have seen. Any how, pulled the bonnet release cable to get my toolkit out & the inner cable came all the way into the boot, so obviously it has become unattached at the bonnet end. Spent most of today under the car to try & release it from underneath, but no joy at all.

Does anyone know if there is a trick to this?

I understand it is probably a no no to tell me on here, but could someone who knows if & how it can be done pm me please?
