MGF Headgasket going again?? Or not.....?
Discussion
Hi All,
Bought our MGF just after Xmas, had loads of reciepts including one for a headgasket replacement (sometime in late 2009). Everything seemed fine, temperature normal etc etc. After a couple of hundred miles I did notice a bit of mayo on the dipstick & a bit right at the very bottom and I assumed that it was water left over from previous HGF. Therefore I flushed the engine, changed the oil and checked that it was clean again & it stayed clean for a couple of days. Now, 300 miles further on I have the same mayo towards the top of the dipstick & a bit right at the bottom. The oil markings above are perfectly clean ( as if not all the oil is contaminated, just the bit right at the bottom & towards the top of the dipstick). The car uses no coolant whatsover, runs perfectly, temp gauge always below halfway.
What can it be? Is it still water left over from earlier HGF or is it the signs of pending new HGF?? If so, why is it using no water?? Can condensation get down the dipstick tube by any chance?
Cheers!
