I've never laughed so much while driving a car before

Cheers for that info, that reinforces my decision. I test drove another example on Zero pipes which sounded am-az-ing from outside, but droned at high m-way speeds. I do a fair few m-way miles and the 260 is my daily driver so it had to be usable.
Still loads of character coming from the engine and although it's no ball of fire I love the way it delivers its power (and spins its wheels if provoked!)

There was a retro-fit fix of some sort available to stop the resonance on the Zeros which I suspect might not have been fitted to the one you test drove. It's not fitted to mine either! There's one very narrow rev band at around 2,000 rpm where you do get bad resonance, but I very rarely find myself in it, so I'm quite happy covering ample miles at ample speeds enjoying radio 4 without needing it on ear-bleeding volume settings. Mine is, however, a tourer, so this may be somewhat different to the saloon.
