Dear all,

I discovered late yesterday Sat 21st April that my beloved pride a joy, a 1971 MGB (red, good condition& wire wheels) drophead has been stolen. It was taken anytime between Weds 18th April 7pm and Saturday 21st April 5pm.

The registration is NRA 40J. It was parked on a residential street in West London. All the doors were locked, the battery cut of switch removed and it was under a silver cover.

Details:
VIN GHN5236059G
Engine number: 18VSW1
Colour: Red
Pic at link below

I implore any of you who notice this car, to please contact me via email immediately.

Many thanks for any information any Piston head members can provide.

Kind regards,

Rupert Dadak

Rupert, very sorry to read your news - do get the word out asap on all MG Forums, the Clubs, and the main MG Garages. If it's not joy-riders the car will have to surface sometime. Also, make note of any particular marks that are unique to your car as this will always help for identification should the numbers be changed/any attempt at ringing. Good luck...

Thanks for your support. Yes I have posted on the MGOC website and have set up some google alerts. I just can't believe someone would got to the effort of stealing a classic car that isn't worth a fraction of the Range Rover that was parked nearby! So frustrating. It doesn't mean much to them but the car had a whole history and I looked after it so well. It's raining outside and I bet the b******* will have it out!

Just make sure you note any marks that can Identify it , scratchs etc in silly places. Unfortunately its all too easy on MGs to switch plates and engine tags , there is one plate which is welded under the back seat which may not be know about !!
Check ebay, craigs list and classic cars sites I doubt it will change colour but exterior items may change. Act as a potential buyer and ask questions !! don't give away that your car was stolen.

All the best I look a lot at sites so will keep an eye out.

Sorry to hear this, someone I know had a 69 OEW roadster stolen from North London not too long ago.

Because it had a cover on it, is there any chance the council towed it for not displaying a permit for where it was parked? a long shot but I thought I'd mention it.

Hope it turns up. frown

Same here OP.
Hope you get it back without any damage.

PS: Your ThumbSnap history should be a little bit censored NSFW

Hi Rupert,
I have also had my much loved MGB GT stolen from west London so feel for you. I'd love to hear if you had any good news?

I posted all my information here: www.julianneregan.net/Julianne_Regan/MGB.html

My MGB-GT was stolen around 29th November 2012 in Maida Vale London. It was covered in custom MGB car cover with a TAX disc window with the registration written on the front (EEC 371E) of the cream cover. REG: EEC 371E. VIN: CHD3125304

Sorry to hear about your GT, she looks like a fine example. I haven't heard anything since my B was stolen. I still get alerts via ebay and autotrader in case she turns up but still nothing. I will never give up hope. I hope you have better joy with your GT. smile
