After 4 years of keeping my F in a garage, I will be loosing the use of the garage shortly, and so will have to be kept outside whilst i source another one.
Meantime, I want to get a cover of somesort, to help keep the wet out.
Are the covers that just cover the hood/winscreen any good, or is it best to go for a full outdoor type cover?

Anyone had any experience of whether these are any good.
I do have a hard top, but even that lets the rain in between the side windows and the seal, and so prefer to keep the soft top option.
Any recommendations/advice for either the hood type covers or full covers much appreciated.

I have both a storm type hood cover (purchased from Mike Satur) and a Moltex fleece lined full outdoor cover, purchased from Hamilton classics via the MGCC shop.

The storm cover is quick and easy to fit & remove and covers the important roof to window seals, so should stop water getting in if you suffer from leaks (luckily mine doesn't). There compactness is an advantage, and makes them ideal to take with you when away from home.

The full cover has the obvious advantage of protecting the whole car, not just the roof, but they can be bulky (mine fills the boot of the TF) and they are best used on a clean dry car to prevent damage. Fitting takes a few minuets, and if it has straps that pass under the car to secure it it can be a bit of a faff. I use a broom handle to push the strap under the car as there is not much room to throw them under a lowered TF.
As a result my full cover typically only gets used if the car is clean and is not going to be moved for a few days.

If you car is a daily driver, then I would try a storm cover first. I have seen a couple of versions being sold, some that cover the whole windscreen, and others that only cover a small bit of the top of the screen. Mine is the latter type, so I still need the scraper in winter, but it does has the advantage of being easier to store and is a tighter fit then the larger type. Mine doesnt come loose or flap even in high winds, which was a slight concern to me with the larger storm covers that secure under the wipers.

Not a daily drive, but like to use it if the weather is good. Will probably get the storm type initially, mike satur has one on his website which covers the hood as well as the windscreen and side windows. And then use a full cover when not going to be used for a few days.
See you have a 260 from your profile. Had one for 3 years and then sold it. Really miss it, fantastic car. May well look at another one. They are such a bargain at current prices.

My 260 is a bit of a sore point at the moment. Took it in for a service and MOT 2 weeks ago and still not got it back as it doesn't yet have an MOT. Fortunately I bought a set of rear discs from the owners club last year, as they needed changing before the test, along with pads and new disc/pads on the front.
A surprise was that it then failed on emissions, which it had been fine with on the last 2 MOTs. The issue was tracked to the sports cats fitted by the previous owner, where after 6 years of use were no longer working. Cue 2 new cats. Then a manifold stud sheared when trying to get the old cats off, and once off the 4 lambda sensors where found stuck fast. The front 2 are no longer available, so have had to buy 4 rears and will need to swap the connectors over with those from the old fronts.

All in all its been a very expensive 3 years of ownership (excluding the fuel costs) and my experience of spare parts availability for 260's hasn't been a good one, which is a bit concerning.
