Hi lads, I am a long term MGB owner of 10years (now 27) and am looking to rebuild my roadster that I took off the road some years ago. I've rebuilt two Land Rovers since then (Series 1 and a Defender) but am getting bored of running a slow Defender everyday - hence my turning back to my missed MG.

I ran the vehicle daily for a few years but eventually it was laid up when welding was required, I am now a competent welder and have some new sills to repair the vehicle with, but I am also thinking about a few other ideas I've seen on the net.

When I ran the vehicle it was quick enough but a little more acceleration would of been good, the engine was rebuilt before I got the car and has a noisey cam follower - otherwise it was good but I am looking for that little bit more. I've seen Zetec conversions and these appeal because of availability of engines and simplicity. I've run a megasquirted V8 in the Land Rover and don't want to go down the V8 route! I've seen a few members here have done the zetec conversion so I am looking for a guide of some kind or photos if anyone has any? I have a type 9 gearbox stashed away from a 1.8Sierra so hoping to use that, altohugh I think it will need some mods to the output housing to take a prop flange?

I can cope with megajolting the Zetec but hope to use Webbers to retain some vintage appeal, so really just looking for advice on this conversion.

I intend to do all the fabrication with the car in it's current state, then repair the body and have it blast, seam sealed and painted before re-assembly.

As I say I'll listen to any advice so feel free to input.

Cheers

Hi,

I am looking at doing a very similar conversion with my 1968 MGBGT and would be interested in any advances you have made with your project. I have been looking into alternative power sources but as yet have not decided on 1, although the zetec and type-9 combination does sound appealing.
