Where to advertise an MGB GT
Discussion
My father in law has decided to part with his lovely MGB GT and I was wondering where would be best for him to advertise it. I will be putting an ad on here in the next couple of weeks on his behalf, but I wondered if anyone had any other suggestions.
Also do people think they are selling at the moment? I assume the market for this sort of car gets better nearer to the summer??
Any advice welcomed
Thanks
Jim

PH is a good place as you can (could) update and amend your advert easily and very quickly
other places you need to get the advert right straight off
put it anywhere that is established, recognised and free
be aware an MGB is not a rare car so be sensible with the price and description and it'll sell
have a good look at all the adverts for Bs especially of those that have recently sold and you should pick up all the good and terrible points of advertising
of great importance is good photos of a shiny whole car (glass, tyres) including engine bay and boot, shot against a nice but unobtrusive background
tidy up small inexpensive things that detract from the appearance
offer two levels of description, at top and first short to the point necessary and advantageous information about the car and then much later if there is the availability you can give much fuller details
remember you must attract attention then hold it you don’t want people skipping by the advert
if you get a serious buyer that turns up to view the car then sell it to them don’t let them go away without buying
you don’t want loads of people asking about the car or even viewing it you want a serious buyer

no problem
advertising and selling a car isn't that difficult to do but not as easy as it seems to do it well
if you're not used to the general public somethings will come as a bit of an eye-opener but it's just life
whatever forms of comunication you advertise to contact you on you must test they all work and that they are monitored and replies given quickly - if you've going away you must make arrangements
emails need quick replies too, and texting (whatever that is)
people want to talk to the seller not answerphone messages they wont ring back too often if they don't get the seller to talk to - and they may have different ideas of what's a reasonable time to phone than you would consider
a lot of people will be unreliable and let you down you can't let this effect how you deal with the next person as they may be the exception also bear in mind they might have just dealt with a bad or poor seller
be organisered get all car details and paperwork in a single file and have a summary sheet of the main aspects, most people wont ring back for an answer later
don't make your adverts time dependant, put MoT until September 2012 not 6 months MoT
I've always found you get more enquires a month after a printed has finished than when printed
stay strong there are still some very decent people out there just not as many as you would hope and some are buyers and some are sellers
