Pick it up tomorrow, really nice little car. Its the SE version, light metallic blue with black leather. Its near immaculate, long MOT, 61,000 miles, FSH and headgasket has been done (reciept to prove). Paid £1000 for it, 2000 reg. Did all the usual checks, HPi, write offs, stolen etc and all ok.

Basically I'm chuffed......but what are these really like? Would like some owners views/experiences please. Also, who are the experts in the West Yorks area should something go wrong??

Currently got a Mk 1 MX5 Eunos (which I'm not selling!!), so used to 1000% reliability!!! The MGF is just another car I have fancied for a while, and now was the time to buy!

I'd get yourself on here.
http://forums.mg-rover.org/forumdisplay.php?f=12
There are a few mobile mechanics specialising in Fs and TFs who post on there, including a Kayleigh who is Derbyshire based, a chap called Jon Norris, and Russell -
details here
http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=449530...

I wouldn't expect 100% reliability, and they have their quirks, but they are great fun and usually fixable for not v.much.

I went from a Mk 1 MX5 to an MGF, I love the F to bits, and in my opinion, is a much better drive.
As said, get your self onto .org, and you will be welcomed with open arms...

I have had both Russell and Jon do stuff for me since I have had the car ( clutch by Russell and a bit of welding by Jon) , and they are both top blokes..

Mine is also a Wedgewood SE, i looks like yours but not as tidy (mine has obviously spent quite a while in supermarket carparks) top choice!
Mine gets used as a sunny day car, I have another car for crap weather. It's a great little thing and is a nice antidote to the 2.6 tonne diesel tank I usually drive!
Build quality isn't the best, the trim in mine is pretty flimsy but it's been completely reliable and never fails to put a smile on my face.
It also appears to make petrol compared to the X5.

Yep, also going to be used as a sunny weather car, like my MX5 I want to keep it in nice condition. The Rover goes to the supermarket, gets parked in town, goes to the tip etc etc. Loving it so far, seems more refined than my 23 year old MX5....but somehow not as well built if that makes sense!!

MGF in Cove by Brent Leport, on Flickr

This is mine, taken yesteday. I did get some funny looks with the roof down near Aberdeen in Jan but it's a good laugh.
The X5 is in the garage before getting traded in on sat so the MGF is my current only mode of transport. The fanbelt has been squeeking and there was a weep from the rocker cover so I decided to do these jobs today.
A mere 4 hours later (you have to take off a wheel to get to the fanbelt and the gap is pretty small) it's stopped squeeking and leaking, and I also adjusted the handbrake to a mere two clicks instead of about nine.

It's a total pain in the arse to work on, but I love it anyway!

Mine is about to be back on the road after a year SORN, it's a shame your so far north, you could have joined us for Friends Round London, a night time lap of the M25 in aid of charity. THAT would get you some looks!

I think the 1200 mile round trip would probably kill me since it's just started to snow! Good idea for a charity run though.
