my trusty zr tdi (04 plate) has been running superbly for about 18 months but suddenly cut out after about 500 metres. it has started 1st time everytime since i bought it. diagnostics showed a code 1335 which apparantly means the fuel pump is needing put down. my mechanic tells me he cant do the job and the new part will probably cost in the region of £600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

can anybody help me out here? is this what it costs? is it a big job? is it a specialist job? can anyone reccomend a better/cheaper option? i fear i might have to put her to sleep! frown

I suspect it'll be a Bosch or Lucas type pump. A call to a diesel specialist would let you know. This is the issue with CR diesels & the reason why I run a petrol car.
Oh & £600 is cheap! Some run into the £1,000s

I wouldn't scrap its too new and people would want it to repair and sell you will only get 100 quid to scrap it im sure you will get more selling it for spairs or repair. Or you can strip it for parts im sure the body panels are worth a bit on them as you can't get new ones and if you can they are rather expensive.

Presumably he's going to the scrappy to source a replacement pump?
