Aero 8's Ugly Cousin?
Discussion
http://pistonheads.com/sales/2366603.htm - £50k!
Words fail me. Why would anyone buy this S1 for GTN money? I fail to see how an Aero 8 can be improved by slapping on a whacking great nose, restricting the exhaust and adding a double glazed window to an unnecessary new roof. I would feel embarrassed to drive around in this monstrosity - I'd rather own a sub-standard replica.

This car has polarised opinions ever since Steve first showed it. I really do think it is a 'Marmite' car. Like a lot of Simmonds' stuff it is well done quality -wise but not to everybody's taste
I have to admit that for me it does nothing and I'm also aware that the original car is now- in terms of first registration at least- a December 2003 car ( that's what his ad in the current " Miscellany" seems to say) so I wouldn't pay 50K for it either.
That having been said, I suspect someone will and if they do, good luck to Steve and the new owner

I agree, its one ugly car now!
The early Aero 8's are really nice to drive as well as look at but someone seems to have had a taste bypass on this one.
Why spend a small fortune making a nice roadster look so awful? I can't think of a single item that Simmonds have added that doesn't detract from the original design.
YUK!

It's a bit of an attempt to create a Trads version of an Aero.... unfortunately there is a view when talking to some people that the Aero should have been an uprated Trad.
Interestingly the 2 prototypes were in fact almost this. One is currently for sale @ £60k
funnily enough those providing critique and continually ask for this type of car have not yet put the cash down to purchase either the Simmonds (£49k) car the prototype (£60k) or their racing predecessor (@£70k).......
Especially as you can have S1, S2, S3, GTN or one of the few carbon S1 racer prototypes for that money.
