+8 engine bay progress
Discussion
never got around to posting a progress thread here earlier this season, so here it is
last year's off-season mods went very well....it's the only good glamour shot I've got for now....you can get a glimpse of the polished water pump but unfortunately can't see the polished rad, the rad is so pretty it was almost a shame to install it
a couple of hiccups with swapping the factory upper rad hose route to the opposite side of the car because of the new Ron Davis rad meant,
1) I couldn't go with a proper #24 AN stainless hose and fittings, so we put a black braided cover on a standard hose....there was just no room to run the AN fittings as it left about 1/2 inch of space for the hose itself....I'm happy with the result, and so is the guy who bought the polished AN fittings an SS hose for a fraction of what I shelled out...lol
2) the new hose routing also created a problem rubbing the rad hose against the fuel temp sensor plumbing on the fuel rail....so we popped off the rails, moved the fitting....and decided to powdercoat the rails to match the exhaust....very pleased as I hated the gold finish on the rails versus where I'm going with all the shiny silver stuff
having to take a saw to the adapter between the MAF and the factory airbox took a leap of faith because we only had one shot at it...but the car gods were smiling and the result is mint
collecting some aluminum plumbing at the moment to replace the accordian intake tube with a custom made polished piece....and intend to get some locals to replicate the windshield washer fluid bottle with a polished piece next season as well
anyhoo...having fun and making progress
cheers

yes 1560
I've already swapped the plastic coolant overflow with an aluminum tank from Mulberry Fab....but haven't got a great pic of it installed
here's a pic of the rad, waterpump, alternator and fittings right after polishing....as I said, had to sell the fittings as the SS rad hose plan wouldn't fit - a shame because they turned out mint
for the washer-fluid tank, I'm basically just going to zipp off the factory plastic piece and have a local shop replicate it in aluminum and have it polished
