If it was a +8 it was probably on its way to Mallory Park for the Peter Morgan Memorial race meeting which featured a range of +8's dating back to 1968 to celebrate 40 years since its first production.
I was there too in my 2002 model and took part in a parade of 50+ cars which covered almost every year of production, there were obviously 2 cars for some years.

Rv8 refers to engine type ie Rover v8 supplied by Rover to various car companies including Morgan and Tvr .I think plus 8 is the name given to the morgan fitted with the rv8 engine ? Anyway the Morgan I was lucky enough to see and hear was coming down our narrow lane at around 6pm last sunday , a rare sight around here . By the way I love Morgans and defer to any comments made to correct any technical points I've made ! ( went round the factory last Nov. and found it fascinating )

Been travelling so just catching up, I have not heard this nomenclature used in Morgan circles as it was a model name for MG and thus it could easily cause a confusion: http://www.mgrv8.com/presentrv8.php

Maybe it is used in TVR circles, but as most of the V8's used in the Plus 8 were derived from Land Rover engines, they are usually differentiated by their engine sizes.
