Ford 3lt engine for Morgan
Discussion
Depends if you want to keep it or trade to another one.
An 8 is an eight it has it's own characteristics.
More modern eights seem to stay around the £25k mark, obviously this depends on condition as for all Morgans.
personally i think the six will be a huge success,i would like the grunt of an 8 but find my tuned 4/4 is quicker round B roads as it is so narrow.
If you like the 8,get it to a level you are more than happy to live with it.
i have had my Mog for 18 years now and occasionaly buy another one for company,I think it is more about getting the car right for you than wahat it is worth.

I agree Clubsport. The trouble is that I am being seconded to the states for 2 years in the not too distant future and I need to decide whether to put the car into storage here for two years or just flog it.
Basically, much as I love it, I can't afford to have it sitting around doing nothing if it is going to take a beating on the value due to the new car. Financial reality has to take effect at some point!!
Tricky business.

morgan are running a competition through autocar to name the new model (2nd sept issue, page 39), so it's not named yet.
There's also a profile/snapshot of Morgan by Steve Cropley in there, by the way.
Beasty, take your car with you! I've no idea about the regulations goverening these things, but it must be possible as a personal import of some sort. I sure wouldn't want to sell a mog (which I don't own yet, admittedly) just because of work.
Oh, and I doubt that plus 8 values will be hit too hard by not being a current model. Buying non-aero 8 morgans has little to do with cutting edge. Also, look at the current values of Plus 4s (discontinued in 1999 or so) - well above comparable 4/4s.
Cheers,
gge.

Beasty, while the 6 will be a terrific car, the +8 is now a legend, and used prices should stabilise as the glut of new cars from two/three years ago (when the factory built a boatload on spec and sold them cheap to the dealers) is worked out of the system. You look at the dealer ads now and there are virtually no Connaught Green/Stone Eights available.
I'm holding on to my 4.6. The Ford V6 might be lighter, the new narrow body may look fantastic, but the grunt and sound of the V8 will be missing. For me, that's a large part of the attraction.
Speak to Bill Fink at Isis Imports in San Francisco about importing your car into the US. There's nothing that Bill doesn't know about Federalizing a Morgan.
Once you've got your car in the country, he will be able to pop in a 400hp LT-2 Corvette motor, with Vette 6sp Getrag gearbox, Vette radiator, ventilated discs all round, new rear suspension, and AIR CONDITIONING!Bliss: no more dying of heat soak when blasting down to LM or the 'Ring in the summer.
I'm already saving up!
